Rising Stars Show Choir

Coming September 2019, the Rising Stars Show Choir will be the premier group of its kind in the region.  Open to grades 7-12 and the only independent show choir north of Boston, this dynamic ensemble is directed by professional choral and dance artists who guide students in developing strong choral, movement, and presentation skills as they rehearse and perform a full concert program.

In each Rising Stars program, we strive to create an environment where each child can learn and grow.  Our emphasis on skill-building gives students the confidence they need to shine on stage!  Our staff of industry professionals are all passionate educators who will treat your child as a key player as they gain valuable experience in the art of performing.

The Rising Stars Show Choir rehearses 6:30-8:00 pm on Tuesday evenings September-January (fall semester) and February-June (spring semester) at Cornerstone Church in Manchester-by-the-Sea.  Semester tuition is $250 (not including concert attire), with a $75 non-refundable deposit due upon registration.  For a detailed schedule and policies, please see our Policies tab.

Ellen Allen, Director

Soprano Ellen Allen is a versatile singer who performs regularly as a soloist and professional chorister.  Having sung in choirs from childhood, Ellen has participated in almost every kind of choral ensemble imaginable – large concert choirs, small chamber groups, women’s choirs, church choirs, opera choruses, a capella groups, and niche ensembles specializing in a particular musical genre.  She firmly believes that every musician should have choral experience – both for musical development, and for the social, listening, and teamwork skills that carry over into many areas of life.

Ellen is an active and experienced vocal pedagogue, maintaining a full-time private teaching studio north of Boston.  She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and is the music director of the Rising Stars summer programs.  In addition to performing as a concert soloist, she currently sings with Triad: Boston’s Choral Collective, a democratically-run ensemble of professional singers, conductors, and composers that specializes in classical music composed within the last twenty-five years.

Ellen holds a Master of Music in Voice and a Teaching Artist Certificate from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Gordon College.  She resides in Reading, MA.
